Accountant - KVE

Description:The Accountant will support the Comptroller in the accounting and finance functions of a growing subsidiary of Kaplan University. The position has three primary responsibilities. They are:- The timely and accurate processing of accounts receivables- Reconciliation of sub ledgers- Ensure liabilities are properly reconciled- Ensure that Affiliate accounting is properly reconciled- Serve as back up for AP processing- Providing support to the Comptroller and Executive Management teamTypical Activities:- Demonstrates understanding of the uniqueness of the online school environment, in terms of financial processes.- Organizes, administers and maintains records for all accounts receivables for KVE.- Audits affiliate invoices to ensure that all enrollments are accounted for.- Organize and create tickler system for contracts- Communicates with stakeholders in a courteous, positive, and professional manner.- Receives and researches employee and vendor inquiries- Provides information and guidance to remote locations as issues arise- Monitors the ImageNow accounts payable workflow process to ensure invoices are processed through electronic "inboxes" in a timely manner- Cash Posting - Assists in preparing month end accruals- Addresses and resolve other accounts payable issues as they ariseA likely activities breakdown:- Month end closing activities 50%- Monitoring accounts receivables and updating general ledger 20%- Other 30%Experience Required:- AS / BS Degree in Accounting- Two or more years of accounting experience.- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under deadline pressure- A working knowledge of accounting policies and procedures - Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills using telephone, e-mail, and in person- A proven ability to establish structure and processes- A demonstrated ability to follow processes, work effectively on a team, and to maintain a positive attitudeQualifications:Position Requirements / Scope of Job / Skills Required:- The ability to work efficiently under deadline pressure- A working knowledge of KHEs and KVEs accounts payable and accounts receivables policies and procedures - Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills using telephone, e-mail, and in person- To establish structure and processes where none exist or where improvements are required- A demonstrated ability to follow processes, work effectively on a team, and to maintain a positive attitude- Flexibility to work some evenings during periods of peak accounts payable and accounting activity Measurement of Success: The Accountant will be evaluated based on (a) the timeliness and accuracy sub ledger and liability reconciliations, (b) accuracy and timeliness of information presented, and (c) adherence to and documentation of policies and procedures.Salary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experienceBenefits available for those who qualify: - Immediate health and dental plans- Sick days, holidays, and vacation days- 401(k) Plan- Flexible Spending Account- Life and Business Travel Accident Insurance - Long-term Disability- Group Legal Services- Financial Planning EOEJob Location: Hollywood, FLJob Number: RUSAKAP8229-612475Company URL: http://www.kaplanvirtualeducation.comCompany Profile:Kaplan Virtual Education (KVE) is a leader in the growing field of virtual high school instruction and online curriculum development.
