Job Description

The Accounting Manager reports to the Controller and supervises the day to day activities of an accounting staff of five (5).  This is a very hands-on position.  After numerous years of continued growth, we are restructuring our Accounting Department and will be implementing new accounting software (tentatively Great Plains). The Accounting Manager will play a key role in mentoring and training our staff to help them move up to the next level. She/he will also play a lead role in the software implementation including designing the chart of accounts, developing financial and management reports, and reengineering our processes and procedures in order to leverage the new software, improve efficiency and enhance internal controls.

 

Responsibilities: Day-to-day supervision of GL, AR, AP, payroll, fixed assets and time and billingReview and monitor internal controls on a regular basisResponsible for the accurate and timely financial monthly and year end reporting in compliance with GAAPFinancial analysis and cash forecastingPartnership accounting and reporting for capital, draws, distributions, and allocation of income Ensure that all transactions are authorized and approved in accordance with firm policyReview and approve monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accountsReview  and approve all batches for GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets and PayrollReview and approve all accounts payable batchesReview and approve all accounts receivable batchesReview and approve payroll submission401(k) and profit sharing plan administration Implementation of new accounting software Develop financial and management reports as neededDevelop and maintain a process for documenting approval authority levels for operating and capital expendituresCoordinate and supervise compliance audits as required (401k, taxing agencies, insurance, etc.) Establish formal cross training for all accounting department functionsMentor, train and develop the accounting department staffInstill a culture of continuous process improvement

Qualifications: B.A. in Accounting 5-7 years progressively responsible accounting supervisory-management experienceA comprehensive accounting background that includes all aspects of GL, AR, AP, fixed assets, payroll, time and billing, cash management, and financial reporting in compliance with GAAPPartnership accounting (excluding tax returns)Proficiency in PC applications, including MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel (advanced), Power Point and AccessExperience with auditsExperience leading, mentoring and developing an accounting departmentExperience in process improvement and systems implementationExperience with an ERP system (Great Plains Dynamics is a plus) Excellent  analytic, organizational, interpersonal, decision-making, computational, written and oral communications skills, including comfort speaking to groupsAbility to analyze problems and develop alternative strategies Good judgment and tact in dealing with people
